Design and Implementation of a Single-Stage PFC Active-Clamp Flyback Converter with Dual Transformers

This paper proposes an AC/DC single-stage structure by integrating a boost topology and active clamp flyback (ACF) circuit with power-factor-correction (PFC) function. The PFC function can be achieved controlling operated in the discontinuous conduction mode. With coordination of clamping components, resonant technique is obtained zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) achieved. proposed converter combined advantages of: (1) compared two-stage circuit, single stage decreases component main reduces complexity control circuit; (2) mode accomplished without adding any current detecting or input signal; (3) using inductor from stage, ZVS additional inductor; (4) increment switching frequency facilitates optimization power density; (5) conducting loss at secondary side reduced synchronous rectification; (6) this scheme, dual transformers series-parallel connection are utilized, shared for lowering transistors. Finally, prototype AC 110 V DC 19 V/6.32 A (120 W) output under 300 kHz implemented. efficiency reaches 88.20% 0.984 factor full load condition.
